DICOM server settings

These are the server's DICOM SCP settings. To activate changes, edit the value and click on Save and Restart. Restarting the server may cause current uploads to abort. The DICOM server parameters are defined in the table below.

Setting

Description

IP address

Server's IP address. Not configurable here.

TCP port

Port number for non-secure DICOM communications over TCP. To disable (non-secure) TCP connections, set the port number to zero.

TLS port

Port number of secure DICOM communications over TLS. TLS connections support the DICOM security enhancements protocol. To disable TLS connections, set the port number to zero.

Storage AE Title

Archive Query AE Title

A server has two AE titles. The Storage AE title identifies the entity that receives DICOM storage objects, echo requests, and most query and retrieve requests. For queries of the archive, use the Query Archive AE title, which appears on the list if an archive is configured. For eRAD PACS v6.0 and later, in which the storage and archive data are joined together, only the Storage AE Title is required.  However, if a second AE Title is needed so a remote AE can both send to and query the server, the Archive Query AE Title can be used.

Transfer syntax

The preferred transfer syntax displays the requested DICOM transfer syntax used when communicating DICOM objects over an established association. Change the default by selecting the preferred value from the list.

PDU size

The maximum receive PDU size shows the number of bytes the DICOM SCP accepts in a single DICOM PDU. Change the default value by selecting the preferred value from the list.

Send, Receive, Connection and Wait time-outs

The timers tell the server how many seconds to wait for an action to complete.

Send timer - time to wait for acknowledgement of a send PDV.

Receive timer - time to wait for the next PDV to arrive.

Connection timer - time to wait for acknowledgement of an association request.

Wait timer - time to wait for the next C-MOVE response message to arrive.

Storescu flags

The Storescu flags are passed to the application the sends DICOM objects to other AEs.

Case sensitivity

By default, DICOM queries are case sensitive. The server prefers case insensitive queries. To enforce case sensitivity of the query parameters, put a checkmark in the box.

Empty matching setting

If empty matching is checked, a NULL query response is considered a match, even if the request included specific matching criteria for that attribute.  To set matching to fail on NULL values, uncheck this setting.

Query/Retrieve limit

The Query/Retrieve limit is available to keep from overwhelming the server with the responses to query requests.  If a query action receives more responses that configured here, the server cancels the request and ignores the remaining data.

Remove private tags

System default setting for removing private tags when forwarding studies to remote DICOM AEs.

Sending updates

System default setting for forwarding updates made to a study that was previously forwarded.

Association heartbeat

System default setting for keeping DICOM associations open between transmission requests.

Some of these settings can be customized for each specific DICOM device.  See the DICOM device configuration information for details.
