of an existing DICOM device.
Scroll to the DICOM services section.
In the DICOM services section check the boxes for each service the device supports.

Customize the default DICOM settings, if necessary.
Enter data coercion rules, if necessary.
Click on Save.
Administrators can limit the maximum number of outbound send tasks and inbound registration tasks associated with a specific device. These typically do not require changes. To change the settings from this page, in the Task Limits section enter values into the following fields, as needed.
Maximum |
The maximum number of tasks the system can run at one to for any inbound or outbound operation associated with this device. |
DICOM Out |
The maximum number of outgoing DICOM (ObjectForward) tasks the system can run at one time to this device. Configurable for parent and child devices only. |
HTTP Out |
The maximum number of outgoing HTTP (e.g., StudySynchronizer) tasks the system can run at one time to this device. Configurable for parent and child devices only. |
Store Date In |
The maximum number of Storescpreg tasks the system can run for incoming data from this device at any point in time. Configurable for DICOM, parent and child devices only. |
Registration |
The maximum number of Dcreg tasks the system can spawn for incoming data from this device at any point in time. Configurable for DICOM, parent and child devices only. |
The DICOM services table defines the supported DICOM services of each external device. Enter the DICOM AE Title, change send and receive timers, check supported services, and save.
The services supported are as follows:
AutoGet, AutoRtv |
Search this device for prior studies. AutoGet uses C-GET DIMSE service. AutoRtv uses C-MOVE DIMSE service. Unless a device explicitly requires C-GET services, AutoRtv is recommended for all devices. |
AutoFwd |
Send a copy of every DICOM object received to this device. |
UnEdit |
Disable editing of studies retrieved from this device. |
Store |
Device supports storage SOP classes as an SCU (U) and/or SCP (P). |
Q/R |
Device supports query/retrieve SOP class as an SCU (U) and/or SCP (P). |
MWL |
Device supports modality worklist SOP class as an SCU (U) and/or SCP (P). |
ResMan |
Device supports a collection of study and result management SOP classes. |
Commit |
Device support storage commitment SOP class as an SCP (P). |
MPPS |
Device supports modality performed procedure step SOP class as an SCP (P). |
For the DICOM SOP Classes, one or two columns exist. A check in the U column indicates the device supports the SCU of the SOP class. A check in the P column indicates the device is an SCP. The server accepts the SOP class during association negotiation only if the checkbox is checked. To prevent supporting the SOP class, clear the check box.
Some DICOM device settings can be customized for each DICOM device. These are set in the Additional DICOM Settings section. The System Settings column displays the current default settings. The Current Value column allows you to override each attribute by entering a new value and selecting the checkbox, or choosing a new value from the drop-down list. The following attributes can be configured on a per device basis:
Transfer syntax |
Preferred/supported transfer syntax. |
Storescu flag |
Flags to be passed to storescu. |
Case sensitive |
DICOM Q/R search is case sensitive. |
Empty matching |
Empty value matches anything in Q/R queries. |
Remove private tags |
When forwarding to this device, remove all private tags. |
Query/Retrieve limit |
When sending QR query to the device, cancel the request if the number of responses exceeds this limit. |
Send timeout |
Time to wait for acknowledgement of a sent PDV (packet). |
Receive timeout |
Time to wait for next received PDV (packet). |
Connection timeout |
Time to wait for acknowledgement of connection request. |
Wait timeout |
Time to wait for next C-MOVE response message to arrive. |
Sending updates |
Automatically send additional modifications made to studies previously forwarded to this device. |
Associate heartbeat |
System default setting for keeping DICOM associations open between transmission requests. |
Propagate permanent delete requests |
Propagate or withhold propagating permanent (Immediate) delete requests to this device. Available for devices whose Type is not Parent, Child or Backup Target. |
Hard edit |
Coerce edited values into their respective DICOM fields when forwarding. Auto coerces data if the DICOM negotiation fails to establish a presentation context supporting eRAD’s private SOP class. |
Time zone |
Time zone of the device’s clock. |
Trigger outbound HL7 report messages |
Inbound report objects acquired from the eRAD RIS/PACS systems initiate outbound HL7 update messages. |
CD Writer |
If set to Yes, the device is a DICOM File Set Creator (FSC), capable of creating DICOM media. As a result, the processed data used by the CD viewer to load quickly is included in the enhanced SR object sent to the device. |
Supported storage SOP classes |
The DICOM Storage SOP classes the server supports. The list applies to both SCU and SCP, meaning it affects the SOP Classes the server requests or accepts in a DICOM Association Request or Response. |
The data coercion section of the DICOM device settings define rules for modifying DICOM attributes when the object first arrives on the server. Refer to the data coercion section for details.
