Compress data action

The Compress Data action compresses data stored in a repository. It is intended for recovering some storage space by compressing data that is no longer used.

Set up an action to compress data as follows:

  1. Create and save a worklist filter identifying which studies you want to compress.
  2. Go to the Other Lists page, and find the new filter on the list.
  3. Under Compress Data, click the X to display the Compress Action configuration window.
  4. Check the Enable box to enable the action.
  5. Check the Apply to Current Content box if you want the server to process all the data on the current worklist (not recommended).
  6. Enter the maximum studies processed during each cycle in Batch Size.
  7. The Scheduling option instructs the server when to process the data (usually immediately upon arrival).
  8. Select the compress format: JPEG Lossless, JPEG 2000 Lossless, JPEG Lossy.
  9. Select the override option:
    1. Always – Always apply the configured format.
    2. Only if uncompressed (Default) – Compress to the configured format only if the data is uncompressed.
    3. If not in a supported compression format – Compress to the configured format if the current format is not one of the available compression formats.
  10. Enter the size difference in Override Size Difference. The compressed file is saved only if the size difference exceeds the defined percentage value. An empty or 0% setting disables the check and the compressed file is saved regardless of the resulting size difference.
  11. Click the Configure button to activate the action.
