Batch printing reports

You can automatically print reports based on a filter criteria. To schedule report printing, first define a worklist filter that satisfies the condition of interest. For example, if you want to print all reports that became Final today, create a filter with the Status column set to Final.  This feature only acts on studies new to the filtered list since the last time it printed reports, and does not include filter time criteria.

After saving the filter,

  1. Click the Other Lists tab.
  2. Find the filter in the table and click the box in the Print Report column to display the configuration window.
  3. Click to put a check in the Enable field.
  4. Check Apply to current content to print all existing reports.
  5. Enter the maximum number of studies to process each cycle. An empty batch size value disables the limit setting and all studies matching the filter criteria will be executed during the action cycle.
  6. Set the scheduling parameter.
  7. Check Print Images to include key images.
  8. Select the printer from the Printer field. Printers are postscript printers configured on the server through a terminal session.
  9. Click Apply.

If a batch size is defined, the system maintains a first-in-first-out queue. Studies that match the filter criteria at the time the action cycle occurs are appended to the end of the queue. Then the system applies the action to studies at the head of the queue. The action’s Batch Size setting defines the number of studies processed. The procedure repeats with each action cycle until the queue is empty.

By default, the server prints reports within 5 minutes of them satisfying the filter criteria.  If you want to schedule the print to happen at a specific time of day, select Daily and enter in the print time using  24-hour time. Click on Apply. If the printer is unavailable when it comes time to print the reports, the server continues to try for one hour, after which it will reschedule for the next day.

To disable report printing, open the configuration window on the Other Lists page again, remove the checkmark from the Enable box, and click Apply.
