Under normal circumstances, the system automatically sends order updates to the appropriate HL7 device. In the event the HL7 device did not receive the update, administrators can manually initiate an HL7 ORM update to the RIS or EMR as follows:
From the Worklist, click the Quick View button, , for the study.
Click the Send Order Update Message button, .
A confirmation notice appears if the order was successfully queued for transmission. Queuing the update does not imply delivery. The completion status is reported in the same manner as internally scheduled HL7 transmission requests.
The Send Order button is active only on servers connected to an HL7 device. The system determines the appropriate target device based on the source of the order and existing HL7 configuration settings.
